Heavier, Healthier, and Happier -- This 15-Year-Old’s Fitness Journey
/#NoJudgement Recently I have been looking back on my health and fitness journey reflecting on my struggle with food, my weight, being active, and being positive through it all when I came across a few things that shocked me. 😊
Last year I weighed 125 and right now I weigh about 150. The thing is, though, those numbers sound bad to some people, but, when I looked at some pictures and mostly my measurements, I realized that I am slimmer and fitter than when I weighed less. Muscle does weigh more than fat. 😍✨
I used to be obsessed over my weight/the number on the scale which led to negative self talk and my outlook on health. I started treating food like it was a bad thing and treating exercise as my punishment for what I ate or how much I weighed. 😢 I realized that my outlook on food and fitness was the opposite of what my parents were teaching me, and my problems were the result of not trusting that they knew what was best. Over the past three months, I absolutely stopped weighing myself because I used to weigh myself everyday. Instead, I started measuring myself once every two weeks or so.
I started eating more whole foods and more food in general. I cut back on almond butter (which I love!), chocolate (one of my favorite treats in the world), sugar, and fried foods. I try to stick to a 80/20 eating habit of where I eat 80% of whole foods that are delicious and then I treat myself to chocolate or something I really like from our co-op! 🥰😜
Instead of fueling my exercise with negativity, I started trying to have a positive mindset of “This is detoxifying, and I will feel great!” or “Wow! This is so fun even though it burns!” Exercising before breakfast for about 15+ minutes has been really helpful for me because the day gets so busy after breakfast, and it is a miracle if I can fit a workout in during the day! 😂
I know that I am not where I want to be YET, but I am so much closer to my goal of being healthier and fitter than I was a few months ago. I am thankful that I get to share my journey with you! It all starts with our mindset first! 😊😘✨ - Heistheway #corinthianwarrior #bodypositivity #onestepatatime @corinthianwarrior ❤️
