Unconditional Love: No Matter What
Do you have anyone in your life that you wish you could be more like? I sure do. There’s one particular person in my life that is so incredibly sweet and loving. They’re actually the sweetest, most-loving person I have ever known or even heard of.
Sweetest Person I Know
Have you ever met someone that is so kind that you’re extra careful around them because you never want to bring out their not-so-kind self? Well, this person is just like that — SO nice, extremely patient, almost always smiling, very generous with their time, giving of their things and themselves. She’s so sweet and giving that a woman that worshipped with her several years ago told her that being around her is like praying. Another lady told her that she truly feels loved when this person smiles at her.
You know what is most amazing about this person? They’ve committed to spending the rest of their life with me — for better or worse; in sickness and in health; as long as we both shall live. Yes, I’m talking about Franicia.
I am married to the most amazing person that I’ve ever met. I’m glad that it’s that way for us. I wouldn’t want to be married to the 5th most-amazing person that I’d ever met. I bet that a lot of us feel exactly the same way, though — we’re all married to the most amazing people! God is so good to do that for us, isn’t He?
Love People PERIOD
Franicia would be the first to tell you that she’s far from perfect, but one of the things that she does so well is loving people. She’s incredibly generous with her love and sweetness.
I want to be more like her. I want people to be comfortable around me. Not just comfortable, though — I want them to feel loved when they’re around me and when I spend time with them. I especially want my family to feel my love. I want them to know that I love them because...I love them. I don’t love them because they did something just right or exactly the way that I wanted it down. I don’t love them because they are living up to my expectations. I love them. PERIOD
Expect to Bless Rather than to Be Blessed
Have you ever heard that expectations ruin relationships? They do. Our unreasonable expectations ruin the relationships that we’re in…if we let them. My recommendation to you (and to me) is that we give up our expectations of people. Rather than expect people to bless us, let’s expect them to give us opportunities to bless and minister to them. Let’s invest in their lives. Let’s be a little bit more like this wonderful person in my life. Actually, let’s take it a step further and strive to be more Christ-like. I want to love people like Christ loved them when He was here on Earth. I want to love them like Christ loves them now.
If we all do that — love people no matter what — how will it change our families? How would that change our workplace? How would that change our communities? How might that change our country? There’s not a lot of loving going on in our society right now. Let’s be the loving people that our society needs.
